FACULTY OF PHILOSOPHY STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS
About the Club
The Archaeology Students Club (KSA) is an apolitical non-for-profit student organization formed by students of Archaeology Department at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade in December 2009. The main goal of this student association is to initiate and support the education and specialization of its students while continuously informing them about the Faculty of Philosophy and The Archaeology Department academic activities. Ever since the establishment, the club has been collaborating with University and other organizations, such as: Ethnology and Antropology Students Club (KSEA) at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade, Archaeology Students Club at the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb, and Archaeology Students Club at the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje (AXIOS). The Archaeology Students Club welcomes all interested students who wish to become members of the club and to help further development of the club as well as to assist with future projects and activities.
Journal of Archaeology Students Club
With the intention to introduce the methodology of writing archeological scientific texts to its students and in order to engage its students in conducting individual research projects, the Archaeology Students Club has started working on the Journal of Archaeology Students Club as well. The magazine primarily publishes individual research texts of the Archaeology Department students, as well as the texts from other academic disciplines of similar interest and affiliation.
Department of Archaeology Promotions
As a part of promoting and presenting different departmental study groups at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade, the Archaeology Department along with the Archaeology Students Club will perform promotional presentations of the Department of Archaeology of the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade at the different high schools in Serbia, in order to inform and prepare high school students about possible choices for continuing the education.
Conferences
From April 22th to 24th, 2010 in Strumice, Macedonia has been organized a student conference, whose main organizer was the Archaeology Students Club of the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje (AXIOM), and the main topic of the convention was “Jewelry as a symbol of prestige” (“Nakit kao simbol prestiža”). Five students, member of the Archaeology Students Club (KSA), who have applied to present their research work at the convention, have received the invitations to present. The Archaeology Students Club is currently working on a project together with Ethnology and Antropology Students Club (KSEA) and History Students Club. We are working together on a conference for all students of Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade, which will be held in Belgrade in 2011. More information is yet to follow.
Student Excursions
It is a well known fact that archaeology students barely ever have the possibility of visiting archaeological sites in Serbia and sightseeing different locations and museums alone in form of organized excursions on regular basis. Due to this, the Archaeology Students Club (KSA) plans on conducting several student excursions. The goal of these excursions will be to introduce the cultural heritage of Serbia to students. The special attention will be paid to visiting archeological sites, locations and museums, which are of valuable information about specific periods in past, exam preparations, realization of seminars and doctoral thesis, and other curriculum tasks. All the excursions will be organized in coordination with site hosts in order for students to obtain more information and experience quality educational program.
Membership
Every student enrolled in graduate or postgraduate studies within the Department of Archaeology at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade owning a current student identification card (INDEX) can become a member of the Archaeology Students Club. The member of the Club can become anyone with an interest to join and work within the association.
