About the Institute

The Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology (IEA) was founded in 1987, under the name Center for Ethnological Research, as part of the then Ethnology Department of the Faculty of Philosophy, the University of Belgrade. It is the most recent ethnological-anthropological institution to have emerged in Serbia. After the change in the name of the Department, which it continues to bear today as well, the Institute was re-named Center for Ethnological and Anthropological Research. Ever since 1990, it has been registered as a separate scientific unit of the Faculty. The Department has held its current title since 2010. The Institute, formerly the Center, has been led by professors of the Ethnology and Anthropology Department namely professors Nikola Pavković, Ph.D., Branko Ćupurdija, Ph.D., Bojan Žikić, Ph.D., Miloš Milenković, Ph.D., Ivan Kovačević, Ph.D. and Dragana Antonijević, Ph.D. Professor .
