About the department
The Study Group for Andragogy was established by the Department of Pedagogy in 1979 as a result of a study program of the same name, which was initiated and developed in a significant way by Dušan Savićević, Ph.D., Professor https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDsbNIa4Gp4
The Study Group for Andragogy offers graduate, master's, and doctoral programs that include various courses in andragogy, grounded in a coherent set of theories, concepts, and principles.
These courses address both general and specific issues related to adult learning and education, including topics such as general andragogy, basic education of adults, history of education of adults, methodology of andragogical research, andragogical didactics, policy and system of adult education, management in adult education, andragogy of work, vocational education of adults, e-learning for adults, social andragogy, philosophy of adult education, comparative andragogy, family andragogy, penological andragogy, human resources development, knowledge management, adult education planning, media education for adults, andragogy of leisure, and ecological andragogy, among others.
The Study Group for Andragogy employs 14 teachers and 6 associates, and enrolls 30 students each year in the first year of graduate studies, 30 in master's studies, and 10 in doctoral studies.
The teaching staff and associates of the Study Group for Andragogy are engaged at the Institute of Pedagogy and Andragogy https://www.f.bg.ac.rs/institut-pedagogija-andragogija on both professional development programs for providers of adult education (https://www.f.bg.ac.rs/institut-pedagogija-andragogija/programi) and a number of projects (current project: Research and Evaluation in the Field of Career Guidance and Counseling (KViS) within the project “Support for Reform of the Dual System of Secondary Vocational Education and the National Qualifications Framework in the Light of Lifelong Learning in Serbia” https://www.f.bg.ac.rs/institut-pedagogija-andragogija/projekti).
"Towards a More Equitable Education: From Research to Change" (2023, December 1), "Building Bridges in Adult Education" (2019, September 21–23), "Adult Education Research and Practice: Between the Welfare State and Neoliberalism" (2019, September 19–22), and other international conferences were organized and carried out by the Study Group for Andragogy (https://www.f.bg.ac.rs/institut-pedagogija-andragogija/konferencije/nac-medj-konferencije).
The Study Group for Andragogy collaborates with various scientific and cultural institutions both nationally and internationally to design and implement projects, facilitate student exchanges and study stays, organize conferences, and publish collections of papers, among other activities.
Several distinguished scholars from around the world contributed to the festivities celebrating the Study Group for Andragogy's 45th anniversary in 2024 (Regina Egetenmeyer-Neher, University of Würzburg in Germany; Jelena Pokimica, Boise State University, US; Lynda Dunlop, University of York, UK) https://www.instagram.com/andragogija/.
The scientific journal “Andragoške studije” (Andragogical Studies) https://as.edu.rs/ has been published since 1994 by the teachers and associates of the Study Group for Andragogy, who have worked together as editors, associates, assistant editors, and members of the editorial board.
Students of andragogy have their own Instagram account, https://www.instagram.com/andragogija/, and in their free time, either alone or with the assistance of teachers and associates of the Study Group for Andragogy, they create and carry out various educational and learning activities.
