Pre-requisites: Elementary knowledge of history and sociology
Course objectives: Understanding ways in which sociology examines history and uses historical frameworks. Introducing students to structural, comparative and contra-effectual approaches to history.
Course description: Creation and development of historic sociology, accuracy in history, main factors in social change, actors and structures, necessities and accidents, main theoretical-methodological questions in a sociological approach to history.
Learning Outcomes: Upon completing this course, students will have mastered fundamental ideas in historical sociology, will be familiar with key tenets of major historical-sociological theories and will be capable of using socio-historic knowledge to understand contemporary society.
