Pre-requisites: There are no specific requirements barring that the course should be attended by students who, in preparation of doctoral dissertation, feel the need to deepen their knowledge of urban anthropology.

Course objectives: The subject is aimed at extending the theoretical and methodological knowledge in the field of urban anthropology, which, in turn contributes to the quality of the research for the doctoral dissertation.

Course description: Subject deepens the knowledge acquired in undergraduate studies and deals with the major theoretical problems that define the city as a specific cultural and spatial entity. Content items include topics such as: the definition of "urban", immigration and adjustment to urban life, social organization of the city, class stratification and their culture, and ethnic relations. Specific attention will be devoted to the construction and use of public spaces throughout the city in the day to day life and rituals Theoretical knowledge will be applied in empirical research presented orally and in writing the term paper.

Learning Outcomes: This course enables students to creatively use the theoretical and empirical experiences of urban anthropology in their studies.
