Pre-requisites: The requirements are in accordance with the fourth year of studies admission requirements.

Course objectives: Developing knowledge and skills for research of family education phenomenon and application of educational programmes for development of parenthood and fulfillment of educational function of family.

Course description: Theoretical course: Education as a family phenomenon; Subject and research domains of The Theory of Family Education; Upbringing, education and socialization as family processes; Parenting roles and models in educational parent-child relation; Different theoretical approaches in educational programmes for family, marriage and parenting; Systematic approach to the family as a frame of educational intervention; Values, goals, effects and evaluation of educational interventions in family system; Educational needs of particular target groups of parents (foster families, adoptive, with one parent, families with unsocial child, with children with handicap, minor marriages); Practical course – workshops: Family life organization as educational context; Mechanisms of family functioning as educational means; Models of family education as a result of marriage and parenting relations; Models of educational parent-child relation; Accepting the child and techniques for parent-child relation improvement.

Learning Outcomes: Student: is familiar with particular mechanisms of family functioning through which its educational function is being fulfilled; is able to apply educational programmes for parenting competences development, problems prevention and support to family development.
