Садржај предмета: Ključne teme i koncepti su urbani prostor kao javno dobro, pojmovi heterotopije i privatopie, promena gradova sa globalizacijom i reskaliranjem državne moći, ekonomija simbola i grad spektakla, reinvencija grada, kapitalizovanje kulture, turistifikacija grada, kosmopolitski grad, urbano građanstvo, gerila urbanizam, upotreba gradskog prostora i mobilne tehnologije, rodno uslovljene mobilnosti, socijalna kohezija i grad, ekološka održivost grada i druge. Konkretni sadržaj kursa profiliše se u skladu sa interesovanjem polaznika. Praktični deo bavi se analizom empirijskih istraživanja u različitim društveno istorijskim i kulturološkim kontekstima (Kina, Japan, evropski gradovi – posebno postsocijalistički, latinoamerički gradovi, gradovi SAD, i td.).
Циљ изучавања предмета: Teorijsko i metodološko osposobljavanje studenata za kritičko promišljanje i istraživanje specifičnih društvenih procesa i stanja u savremenim gradovima.
Предуслови за полагање: Poznavanje osnova opšte sociološke teorije, a poželjna je upoznatost studenata sa istraživanjima iz oblasti urbanih studija (urbane kulture, ekonomije i politike).
Облици наставе: Predavanja i vežbe. Priprema i vođenje diskusije na jednom času vežbi; Izrada pismenog rada na jednu od tema kursa; Polaganje završnog usmenog ispita koji se sastoji od jednog pitanja i razgovora o pismenom radu.
