About the department
The field of pedagogy began as an academic subject at the Lyceum (founded in 1838), continued at the Great School (founded in 1863), and developed even more at the University of Belgrade (founded in 1905). In 1892, Dr. Vojislav Bakić's appointment as a professor at the Chair of Gymnasium Pedagogy with Methodology marked a turning point in the history of pedagogy as a university academic discipline. http://147.91.75.9/manage/shares/Quality_of_education/125_godina_Katedre_za_pedagogiju.pdf.
Pedagogy and philosophy became distinct scientific groups in 1900, and starting in 1927, the pedagogical group was a separate scientific group. In 1962, the Department of Pedagogy was founded by the Pedagogy Group, which subsequently led to the formation of two study groups in 1979: the Study Group for Pedagogy and the Study Group for Andragogy.
In 1983, the Institute for Pedagogy and Andragogy was established within the Department of Pedagogy and Andragogy.
The Chair for General Pedagogy, Methodology, and History of Pedagogy; the Chair for Didactics with Methodology; the Chair for Preschool Pedagogy; and the Chair for School Pedagogy are currently parts of the Study Group for Pedagogy.
The Study Group for Pedagogy's undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral study programs cover a wide range of topics in both general and specialized pedagogical fields, including didactics, school, preschool, family pedagogy, history of pedagogy, and methodology of pedagogical research.
