Statistics in Social Research - Fundamentals

Pre-requisites: Elementary computer skills (Windows).

Course objectives: The objective of this course is to equip students with general knowledge and skills in the field of statistics in order to understand research works and texts with a statistical analysis basis, as well as to conduct descriptive analysis of the problem themselves.

Course description: The course covers data collection and presentation of quantitative social data and provides students with a basic process for coming up with conclusions based on facts. During the semester students will become familiar with descriptive statistics, probability theory, basic principles of causation and methods in conclusions based on sample, as well as principles of measuring and validity in measuring.

Learning Outcomes: After completing the exam in this course, students will be equipped to prepare data for poll research and statistical work through the SPSS program and will be able to conduct descriptive analysis of numerical and categorical facts.
