Pre-requisites: Regular class attendance and fulfillment of academic responsibilities.

Course objectives: Introducing students to the major processes that defined the development of Yugoslavia as a country, culture and society; finding new sources and knowledge at institutions in which they are kept; independently mastering the material.

Course description: The theoretical component will address the cultural and social history of Yugoslavia through lectures, with a special focus on historical phases in which these phenomena were prevalent: the idea of Yugoslavianism(Yugoslavian identity), forming of ideology, cultural development, state building, discourse of cultural thought, cultural, artistic and academic development. The objective for the practical component is to learn to independently use historical sources(by type, content and origin - records, legal documents, stenographic notes, statistics, print media, documentary film material) and historical literature, cultivate critical thinking, participate in discussion and present knowledge and findings orally and in written form.

Learning Outcomes: Mastering course material, which examines the history of culture in Yugoslavia, gaining a better understanding of complex historical processes, ideas, movements, personalities, cultural achievements and domain; forming a scientific opinion, critical awareness and culture in general.
