Pre-requisites: Basic secondary school knowledge of issues in philosophy, sociology and natural sciences. The level of instruction will be adjusted to the level of previous knowledge of participating students - minimum of five and maximum of 25 students; there 25 places available in a computer lab

Course objectives: Training and enabling students to make the necessary links between theory, method and experience and to understand the implications of different research strategies in an electronically supported environment

Course description: Theoretical component of the course will introduce students to the interdependence of theoretical and methodological frameworks of research within the process of studying social phenomena. It encompasses a wide range of topics from various fields and forms of social action and organization, such as socialization and individuation, gender, family, ethnic, racial, class, generational relations and identities, local and global social division of labor, social inequality and poverty, relationship of power to education, mass media and culture, religion, "normality" crime and punishment ... Practical instruction envelops through participation in discussions on electronic forums, in compiling dictionaries, writing and debating research seminar papers on a selected topic, while students illuminate basic concepts of social science from the perspective of different theoretical and methodological paradigmatic approaches.

Learning Outcomes: Improving students' ability to think critically and interpret scientific literature, operationalize concepts and conduct research, creatively write and engage in a virtual debate.
