Pre-requisites: There are no prerequisites for taking the course Introduction to psychology of education. Knowledge of Methodology of psychological research, Developmental and Social psychology and Mental hygiene is useful.

Course objectives: The objective of the course is to make psychologists capable of understanding complexity of the educational system, the nature and complexity of learning and school teaching processes, as well as specific requirements posed in education in relation to the professional role of the psychologist, as well as to provide an understanding of the key controversial issues in psychology of education.

Course description: . Educational system, institutions, participants, European and global trends in educational development 2. Controversial issues in psychology of education; a) psychological approaches and school b) intelligence and schooling c) cognitive, affective, social and moral development and school d) diversity: individual, group, developmental, cultural differences f) motivation and learning g) school learning and instruction h) research in school versus research on school 3. The teaching profession 4. Various roles of psychologist in educational system 1. Visiting different educational institutions: a) becoming familiar with specificities of institutions, b) interview with the manager, personnel and users 2. Becoming familiar with psychologist’s role in different educational institutions, 3. Writing and presentation of a theoretical/research paper

Learning Outcomes: By the end of the course, students will have acquired basic knowledge and skills, essential to creating a rich learning environment.
