Rorschach inkblot test

Pre-requisites: Passed exam in Methods of clinical assessment.

Course objectives: Learning about history and development of the Rorschach method, modern interpretation systems, their achievements and drawbacks in clinical practice. Rorschach in the psychological test battery, administration, coding, interpretation of answers, data integration, report writing.

Course description: Theoretical lectures: History and development of Rorschach test. Hermann Rorschach – origins of the instrument. The concept of projective test and projective technique. Development of different Rorschach systems. Exner’s „Comprehensive system“. Interpretation of answers and integration of data, writing a report and an opinion. Lerner’s psychoanalytical system in interpreting Rorschach test. Rorschach test for assessing family dynamics. Assessment of object relations. Assessment of primitive defenses and primitive mental states in children, adolescents and adults. Measuring borderline phenomenology and narcissism. Treatment planning and psychotherapeutic goals based on Rorschach test. Rorschach test as an instrument in therapeutic assessment. Rorschach test in forensic assessment. Practical lectures: Exercices, Other types of lectures, Research work. Working through a number of Rorschach protocols. Administration of instruments by students and interpretation of protocols under lecturers’ supervision.

Learning Outcomes: Skills needed for administration of Rorschach test and interpretation of acquired data.
