Pre-requisites: Prerequisite for attending the course is passing exams in Methodology of Psychological Research, Qualitative Research and Psychology of Individual Differences.

Course objectives: Acquiring fundamental knowledge in personality psychology in the light of the basic concepts of philosophy and philosophy of science as a basis for understanding the most important debates and approaches in this field.

Course description: a. The basic meta-problems in studying personality (ontological, epistemological, methodological and practical); b. Theoretical pluralism in personality psychology (presentation of the basic paradigms: Psychoanalytic, Behavioral, Humanistic, Cognitive-Behavioral, Constructivistic, and Discursive); c. Expression of human subjectivity (personality, individuality, self, type, character, role, identity, personhood), d. The main problems in the study of personality (the problems of existence, location, description and understanding of personality, the problem of explaining human activity, problems of agency, potentiality and normality).

Learning Outcomes: Mastering the basic concepts, issues and paradigms in personality psychology. Becoming qualified for understanding contemporary periodical literature in this field. The ability to critically analyze different theories in personality psychology.
