Preschool Education (selected topics)

Pre-requisites: -

Course objectives: Consideration of key questions and dilemmas in the domain of the policy of preschool education and social care for the children of early age.

Course description: Origins of social care for children: cultural-historical dimension, scientific knowledge, social-economic dimension. Modern family, the rights of parents and the rights of children. Open questions in preschool education policy and social care for children and possible directions of resolution: social and/or educational jurisdiction; family/professional; public/private; centralized/local government. System of preschool education and social care for children: analysis of legislative-normative regulations and practice by dimensions of efficiency, effectiveness, openness, justness, regulation and cohesion. Reforms of preschool educational systems: starting points, approaches and effects.

Learning Outcomes: Students understand the results and factors which condition the policy of preschool education and social care for children and are trained for critical analysis, research and constructive involvement in the development of policy and practice of early education.
