Course objectives: Acquisition of general knowledge and understanding the principles of contemporary educational system organization and functioning in our country and in the world, understanding the connection with other parts of the society, recognition of dynamics and needs for developing and upgrading the system.

Course description: Theoretical courses: The concept, structure and characteristics of educational system. Interconnection with other parts of the society. Founding, development, management and control of educational system. Determinants of educational and school system development. The relation between institutional and non-institutional education. Family in educational system. Schools and preschool institutions in educational system. Education for children and adolescents with special needs. Adults in educational system. Mass media, cultural and educational institutions, care centres for children and adolescents. School system. Institutions for preschool education, elementary, secondary and higher education in Serbia and in the world. Management of educational system. Institutions for evaluation and improving the quality of education. Changes in Serbian school system. Practical courses: Analysis of educational system in Serbia. Elementary and compulsory education in Serbia and the countries of the EU. The structure and basic characteristics of secondary education in Serbia and the EU. Bologna process in Serbia. Current changes in educational systems in Serbia and the EU.

Learning Outcomes: Acquired thorough knowledge of the structure, characteristics and functions of contemporary educational systems, the capability for recognizing the similarities and differences between them, recognition of the tendencies of their development, according to standards and national needs.
