Course objectives: Understanding the education as a form of social practice and cultural reproduction and production mechanism and development of readiness for scientific and educational activism from the position of understanding the environmental paradigm.

Course description: Different scientific and social paradigms and vertical and horizontal models of educational processes. Education and society: education as a form of social practice; social power, knowledge production and education; perspectives of education as a social production. Education and politics: political dimensions of education; educational context as an ideology, an educational policy. Education and culture: institutional education as one of the contexts for introduction of adolescents into culture; anthropological findings about the culture of education; institutional education as a cultural product and the role of educational culture in culture transformation; media and education. Education and individual development: education, social changes and sustainable development; internationalization of education.

Learning Outcomes: Student understands the relevance of current paradigms in studying educational processes and the necessity of contextual and systematic research of educational phenomena; student can coordinate the data from different disciplinary research in critical reflection of education.
