Course objectives: Development of teacher competencies for planning and teaching history based on the implementation of modern teaching methods, forms of teaching outlined by the educational standards, and history teaching curricula, with the analysis and use of different teaching materials (textbooks, sources, additional materials...)

Course description: Planning the teaching of history according to the existing aims, tasks, and outcomes in history teaching, relying on the contents of current history curricula; assigning tasks and designing activities for attaining educational standards for the end of compulsory and secondary education in the subject history; analysis of history textbooks and additional teaching materials; use of ICT and Internet in teaching history; use of sources and concept of multiperspectivity in teaching history; addressing sensitive and controversial topics (gender history, minority groups, social diversity); contextualization of Council of Europe recommendations for teaching history in existing educational framework; creation of powerpoint presentations for use in the classroom

Learning Outcomes: Students will be able to: apply different approaches to planning and teaching history with a focus on sensitive, controversial topics and work with historical sources and textbooks.
