Intro to history studies

Pre-requisites: Enrollment in academic studies in History

Course objectives: Adopting critical stance as a foundation for developing the ability to think independently,complete written and oral works, while being able to respecting other views; practicing leading professional dialogue; acquiring note-taking skills to apply to notes on literature and other sources.

Course description: Through lectures and labs students are introduced to the fundamental principles of history as a science, major ideas, scientific proceedings, historical materials, scientific historiography and its chronological development up until present times. The practical aspect of this course is devoted to working with archives, analyzing sources and examining and researching relevant sources on the internet.

Learning Outcomes: Adopting professional terminology from the academic science of history, familiarity with the methods of historical research, learning to use sources and literature with a critical stance; practically using libraries, archives and internet for research.
