Course objectives: For students to gain an understanding of the reasons for the disintegration of the Serbian kingdom and creation of new state entities; and methodological knowledge and skills required to work with relevant historical sources.Enabling students to conduct independent academic research.

Course description: Theoretical component: The weakening and fall of the Serbian kingdom after the death of Car(king) Dusan. Erosion of the central government, appearance of conditions suitable for the creation of new territories under Serbian lordship. The first regional lords, and transference of the co-rulership to the House of Mrnjavcevic. Conflicts between dynasties within the Serbian kingdom till the year of 1371. Economic and social situation in Serbia till 1371. Strengthening of territorial lords power after the death of Car (king) Uros. The creation of a new state under Duke Lazar and the territories of Vuk Brankovic till 1389. Politics, economy and social structure of the lands up until the Battle of Kosovo. Serbian lands from 1389 to 1402. and the creation of a state under Serbian despots. Practical component: working with texts and literature on the subject of Serbian territories in the second half of the 14th century till the year of 1402.

Learning Outcomes: An understanding of the general events, occurences and phenomena in the history of Serbian territories in the second half of the 14th century. Multi-perspective analysis of historic events through historical sources and literature.
