Pre-requisites: Regular class attendance and fulfillment of school requirements and obligations.
Course objectives: Introducing students to the major subject matter on Yugoslavia as a country and society; gaining basic knowledge about historical sources and historiographic literature, its reach, contemporary directions and problems.
Course description: Theoretical component of the class encompasses lectures on the history of the Yugoslavian idea, the creation of Yugoslavia as a country, the contradictions of its social development, constitutional, national, social, cultural and spiritual questions, crises, wars and revolutions, elitism, ideas, foreign policy and political turmoil. Practical component: making students capable of independently analyzing historical sources and literature, forming a historic opinion and applying their knowledge through presentation – orally and in writing.
Learning Outcomes: Mastering material on Yugoslavia's political development and foreign policy will provide a foundation for understanding Yugoslavia's longevity and its complex character. Upon completing this course students will be able to critically assess and possess indispensable knowledge on the subject matter.
