Pre-requisites: Regular class attendance and fulfillment of academic requirements.

Course objectives: Introducing students to the key events that developed Yugoslavia as a country, society and culture; gaining additional insight through historical sources and institutions in which they are kept, independently mastering historical literature.

Course description: The theoretical component encompasses lectures on the social and cultural history of Yugoslavia, with a special focus on historical phases in which these phenomena were prevalent: the idea of Yugoslavianism(Yugoslavian identity), forming of ideology, cultural development, state building, discourse of cultural thought, cultural, artistic and academic development. The objective for the practical component is to enable students to critically analyze historical sources by type(written proceedings, legal acts,stenographic notes,statistics,press, film material...)and historical literature, think critically,participate in discussions and present their knowledge in written and oral form.

Learning Outcomes: Mastering literature on the history of the Yugoslavian country, society and culture; a better understanding of the historical process, political ideas, movements, people, cultural ambitions and achievements, forming a scientific opinion, critical historical conscience and general professional cultural environment.
