Course objectives: Deepen knowledge of all the most important early medieval finds and sites in south-eastern Europe, as well as their precise chronological and functional attribution.

Course description: Study of archaeological traces from the 7th to the 9th century in south-eastern Europe, with the application of data from the written historical sources, as well as interpretation of cultural interactions between diverse ethnic groups. The study of the process of disintegration of the late antique world and forming the nucleus of medieval society with special attention to the process of Christianization.

Learning Outcomes: Enabling the students to deepen their knowledge of all the most important early medieval finds and sites in south-eastern Europe, as well as their precise chronological and functional attribution.
