Course objectives: Course objectives: developing students’ knowledge of English for Specific Academic Purposes relevant to the following fields of study: philosophy, sociology, psychology, pedagogy, adult education, history, art history, anthropology and ethnology, archaeology and the classics.

Course description: Course content: the course content is determined by its objectives and is closely linked to the Faculty of Philosophy specific fields of study. Materials used both in class and as homework assignments are engaging, authentic and source-reliable, enabling students to get acquainted with a variety of academic styles and registers. The course includes reading, writing, audiovisual, listening and speaking components, while a number of different techniques and strategies are used, enabling students to carry out a range of tasks (translating, note-taking, summarizing, presenting, debating etc.).

Learning Outcomes: Learning outcomes: Upon completion of the course, students shall have developed academic language skills and competences at the B2+/C1 level (CERF), being able to read and translate their specific field-related materials, participate in debates, give presentations and write résumés and summaries.
