Course objectives: Students are introduced to the importance and mechanics of trade and craft development in the Romanization process of central Balkans region as well as the status and origin of crafts people and traders as part of Roman provinces in the Danube region.

Course description: Settlement of Roman traders in the Danube and Sava valleys, types of imported goods and the importance of trade for the urbanization and Romanization processes in the Danube region. Establishment of the first craft workshops, origin and status of crafts people. Pottery making, brick making, toreutics and stone masonry workshops in provinces of the Danube region. The role of Roman military in the development of trade and crafts
