Pre-requisites: Knowledge of the English language. Passed exam in Introduction to Sociocultural Anthropology.

Course objectives: Introducing students to basic concepts in gender studies, feminist theory and feminist social critique. Critically reexamining how gender and sex are presented in anthropology and social sciences.

Course description: This course covers topics on the social construction of gender identity and identity in general, students will learn perspectives of various feminist authors and investigate a topic from social life through the lens of gender and sex. The course is composed of a general section and a second section, which changes every three years. For first three year period, the second section will deal with issues on women and religion.

Learning Outcomes: Students who finish this course should be capable of skilfully utilizing feminist literature and various critical approaches in dealing with gender and sex in traditional anthropology and social sciences.
