Course objectives: To introduce students to the cultural development and the changes in the ways of life in the Paleolithic and the Mesolithic.

Course description: The course comprizes of the earliest development stages of of human culture: The Paleolithic and the Mesolithic. The lectures cover: a) Cultural and social changes; b) Economy and settlement; c) Art and the system of beliefs. The Paleolithic and Mesolithic of Balkan Peninsula will be covered in particular.
