Pre-requisites: An understanding of general concepts from Introduction to Sociocultural Anthropology. Students without the prerequisite knowledge have to pass a special exam as a requirement for coming out for the final exam.

Course objectives: This course is developed for students to expand their basic knowledge on the history of anthropology. Students will be able to choose a field of interest(movement, author or group of authors, period, national schools of thought or similar) to study in detail and write a paper.

Course description: This course is composed of thorough study of history of anthropological theory, the relationship between history and theory in the discipline. It will examine several periods from predecessors of anthropology to contemporary anthropology. The general course program utilizes basic foundational literature from which students can further expand their knowledge and use other literature depending on their interests.

Learning Outcomes: Students that complete this course will have gained further insight into history of anthropology and will be trained during the course for scientific work in that field.
