Pre-requisites: Basic knowledge and understanding of social theory.

Course objectives: This course will familiarize students with contemporary sociological ideas about characteristics of labor and workers and examines the main movers and shakers that changed the sociology of work and labor.

Course description: Identifying the domain of the sociology of labor(work) and elementary theoretical and methodological ideas in sociology of labor; historically studying issues and types of labor; different social groups and individuals involved; analysis of types of organization surrounding labor, mobilization of human resources, social confrontations in the sphere of work and labor and solutions; examining important factors in the sociology of labor – relationships, technology and culture- and the impact of these factors on the future of work; analysis of current trends in re-shaping the culture of work and labor in modern society.

Learning Outcomes: Students will be able to identify contemporary social issues surrounding labor and work and contribute to solving related problems.
