Pre-requisites: Basic knowledge of social theory (Intro to Sociology, Contemporary Social Theory)

Course objectives: To introduce students to contemporary sociological knowledge about the characteristics of organizations,players involved in structuring and shaping organizations, actors within organizations and trends of change in organizations.

Course description: Defining the domain and subject of the sociology of organizations and its basic theoretical-methodological orientations; specifying theoretical and applied meanings of concepts related to organizations and working organizations, structures of organizations, relevant environments surrounding organizations, organizational culture, power in organizations, contemporary types of working organizations (organizations with a labor force); analyzing problems of efficiency in organizations, leadership, social confrontations and ways of overcoming them; a look at the main trends in changing contemporary working organizations.

Learning Outcomes: Students will be able to detect, examine and solve social problems that arise for people working in organizations.
