Pre-requisites: Requirements are identical to requirements for doctoral studies in general. Knowledge of foreign languages and internet use is also required.

Course objectives: Mastering cutting-edge theories and methodological achievements through research of ontological, epistemological and practical aspects of the process and social conditions of reproduction of cognition process and knowledge in an electronically supported environment.

Course description: Theoretical component - Becoming familiar with and applying critical analysis to the newest theoretical-methodological variants of functionalist, structuralist, radical, phenomenological, hermeneutic, ethnographic, socio-constructive, feminist and other approaches to scientific social research of genesis and changes of cognitive content and functions of human beliefs and knowledge under the influence of social order stabilization or sharpening of social crisis on a global, regional and local level. Practical component – Application in one's own research and/or development of new theoretical & methodological approaches, re-assessing enduring ontological, epistemological and practical problems in the relationship between the process of forming social knowledge and social power, universality and relativity of validity of cognitive judgments, interdisciplinary synthesis of micro and macro levels of research, empirically testing basic sociology of knowledge tenets in and on the information societies based on knowledge

Learning Outcomes: Students will be able to independently assess, analyze, apply, develop and virtually debate issues and problems of a sociological-cognitive approach to researching the so-called information society based on knowledge as well as one's own cognition practice.
