Course objectives: Students should get introduced to the emergence and development of aesthetic reflection, to continuity and discontinuity of its development, as well as to the most relevant directions of contemporary aesthetics.

Course description: Firstly, the history of traditional aesthetics will be presented, from its beginnings in ancient Greece through the modern conceptions of Baumgarten, Hume and the aesthetics of German idealism to the modern aesthetic. Contemporary aesthetics does not develop in the form of a single system but often there are, side by side, various directions and orientations, and because of that the content of the lectures consists of presentations of some basic conceptions of contemporary aesthetics.

Learning Outcomes: Students will be introduced to the emergence and development of aesthetic reflection, to continuity and discontinuity of its development, as well as to the most relevant directions of contemporary aesthetics.
