Course objectives: To introduce students to basic assumptions, concepts, and principles in sociology as a scientific discipline with the goal of furthering students skills of observation and analysis which are imperative for further sociological study.

Course description: This course attempts to introduce students to the debates on fundamental issues and concepts in sociology. Class will be structured around the following topics: 1. sociology as a science of social realism - various sociological perspectives 2. society, social structures, social systems and social change 3. general concepts of sociological analysis.

Learning Outcomes: Students will be enabled to continue their study of sociology.
