Course objectives: Students should get familiar with specificities of this period of philosophy, its role in the history of philosophy, as well as the ways in which some philosophers have posed and solved the basic philosophical questions.

Course description: Early Christian and medieval philosophy – Lectures plan by weeks: 1. The emergence of Christian thought and its relation to Antique and Hellenism. 2. Augustinus Aurelius's thought 3. Boethius and Damascus 4. The influence of Arab and Jewish thought on the medieval European philosophy 5. John Scott Eriugena and Anselm of Canterbury 6. The 12th century 7. Metaphysics and science in the 13th century 8. Thomas Aquinas's thought 9. Hendrik van Gent and Duns Scott 10. William of Ockham 11. Paris, Oxford and other centers of medieval thought 12. Late-medieval logic 13. Philosophy of the late Middle Ages 14. Suarez and the late scholasticism 15. Recap of the course
