Course objectives: Introduce students to the basic issues and problems of philosophy of language as one of the mostimportant philosophical disciplines in contemporary philosophy.

Course description: The following topics are included: Frege's theory of meaning, Russell's theory of descriptions, theory of formal semantics, intentionalist theory of meaning, causal theory of meaning, theory of speech acts, meaning and context. During exercises, students analyze texts and discuss problems, arguments and viewpoints relevant to the topics covered in lectures.

Learning Outcomes: Students gain knowledge about the basic issues and problems in philosophy of language, and that knowledge provides them with the ability to successfully deal with contemporary philosophy issues on higher levels of studying.
