Course objectives: Introduction to philosophical skepticism and to the most significant contemporary philosophical theories attempting to counter the skeptical challenge

Course description: Includes the following topics: philosophical skepticism (Descartes), knowledge as an absolute concept, semantic response, relevant alternatives theory, contextualism, externalism, Nozick's conditional theory of knowledge, giving way to skepticism. Exercises involve analyzing and discussing the texts relevant for the topics covered by lectures.

Learning Outcomes: Students should gain knowledge about the nature of philosophical skepticism and about the most interesting contemporary philosophical attempts to solve the related problems.
