Course objectives: The purpose of this course is to improve students’ understanding of the function, characteristics and assumptions of educational counselling in the education context, as well as to equip them with skills in pedagogical counselling in educational practice.

Course description: Theoretical part: Different theoretical approaches to counselling. Function of educational counselling. Phases of the counselling process. Characteristics of individual counselling. Characteristics of group counselling. Methods and technics of school counselling. Counselling with students. Consultations with teachers. Consultations with parents. possibilities, conditions and limitations of educational counselling. Practical part: Students' practical tasks in the educational institution - monitoring the school counsellor (pedagogue) work and delivery of counselling by their own.

Learning Outcomes: By the end of the course students should be able to understand the function and nature of educational counselling, as well as the role of school counsellor/pedagogue in this process; to develop the skills and abilities necessary for counselling in educational contexts.
