Course objectives: Understanding the concept and the principle of education for democracy and civic society, introducing into the programmes and methods of civic education and acquisition of practical knowledge for realization of the civic education teaching, developing civic awareness and activism.

Course description: Theoretical course: Civic education for democracy and civic society: concepts and approaches. Education for democratic society: European and global dimension. Education for democratic society in Serbia: democratization of education and introducing the school subject Civic Education. Education for democracy and civic society, national frame. Goals, competences and results of education for democracy. Strategies and methods of education for democracy and civic society. Programmes of civic education (review and example analysis). Teacher training for civic education. Practical course: Planning, realization and evaluation of one lesson of civic education or a teaching block of education for democracy and civic society.

Learning Outcomes: It is expected that student: understands the concept of education for democracy and civic society, knows and critically reviews the programmes of civic education, is capable of planning and realizing the particular teaching activities in the field of civic education.
