Course objectives: Familiarization with the basic concepts and approaches in the field of curriculum development and evaluation; Understanding the relation between the programme as a model and as an educational practice; introduction to programme analysis methodology, research, development and evaluation.
Course description: Basic concepts and approaches: plan, programme and curriculum; planning and programming in education; the structure and elements of educational program: the inner logic of curriculum planning; Resources and outcomes of educational programmes; Programme types/ approaches to programming and organization of educational practice: programme as a plan versus process of curriculum development; contents (disciplines), results and development as starting points in programme designing; disciplinary and integrated (thematic) curriculum. Evaluation of educational programmes: functions and types of programme evaluation; examples and experiences of evaluation studies. Approaches and strategies of programme design: educational reforms and curriculum changes, action research as a curriculum development method. Practical course: Design of pilot research with the reports; design of an educational programme.
Learning Outcomes: Student: is familiar with the structure and elements of educational programme; is able to analyse and review the resources and starting points; is capable of applying different approaches to programme planning and development; understands evaluation types and functions; is capable of developing a programme and an evaluation model.
