Course objectives: For students to understand and develop the implications of educational and psychological theories in the field of preschool education; to familiarize with the basic concepts and categories of preschool education theory and practice; to develop positive professional attitude and team work competences.
Course description: The content is organized into 4 parts: 1. Family and public education of preschool children (education as a social activity, family and non-family education, institutional preschool education in our country, the relation between school and kindergarten); 2. Learning and education of preschool child (psychological theories of learning and education in early childhood, education in preschool institution – function, areas, organization); 3. Socialization in institutional preschool education (education as a mechanism of social inheritance, structure of the programme – organizational structure, nature of interaction, the role of teachers, task of socialization); 4. Observation and monitoring of children (observation functions, observation procedures and observation in the context, subjectivity in observation, monitoring of children and observation data compiling). Practical course: field research; planning and realization of activities with children; systematic observation of an individual child and a group of children; research realization and presentation.
Learning Outcomes: Students are familiar with the forms and characteristics of institutional preschool education; they have professional approach to the interpretation of preschool education theory and practice; they can monitor and examine the programme and child development, they are familiar with the strategies of partnership development.
