Course objectives: Introducing students into the characteristics, possibilities, ranges and limitations of quantitative research in education and training for their application in research in the field of education.

Course description: Logical-epistemological foundations of quantitative research. Characteristics of learning in education and quantitative research. Types of quantitative research and their characteristics. Descriptive and causal research. Educational experiment. Learning resources and the nature of the data in empirical-analytical approach. The nature and types of measuring in education. Types and characteristics of indicators. Operational definition and hypothetical construct in research. Classification and measuring in quantitative research. Measuring levels and measuring scales. Quantitative research design. Techniques and instruments in quantitative research (types, particularities, construction, metrical characteristics verification). Types of samples in quantitative research. Statistical data processing. Ranges and limitations of the use of quantitative research in education.

Learning Outcomes: Student should know the logical-epistemological foundations of quantitative research, should understand the nature and characteristics of quantitative research in the field of education and should be capable of designing and realizing quantitative research in this field.
