Course objectives: Students should acquire the basic knowledge of the development of Serbian pedagogical thought, they should be trained for individual interpretation of the works of Serbian pedagogists and to develop critical attitude towards pedagogical ideas in the past.

Course description: Theoretical course: Learning and knowledge shown in medieval texts. Educational work of Teodor Jankovic Mirijevski, Avram Mrazovic, Stefan Vujanovski, Uros Stefan Nestorovic and Jovan Beric. Educational work and pedagogogical ideas of Dositej Obradovic. Conceptual development of pedagogy in Serbia: pedagogical work and thought of Stevan D. Popovic, Vojislav Bakic, Stevan Okanovic, Sreten Adzic, Jovan Miodragovic, Vojislav R. Mladenovic, Milos Milosevic, Vicentije Rakic, Milan Sevic and Paja Radosavljevic. Practical course: Practice. Educational ideas and work on the school reform of Dimitrije Isailovic, Jovan Sterija Popovic, Milovan Spasic, Djordje Natosevic, Milorad P. Sapcanin and Milan Dj. Milicevic. Pedagogical ideas of Serbian socialists (Zivojin Zujovic, Svetozar Markovic, Vasa Pelagic). Bibliography of pedagogical periodicals. Educational concepts of Serbian educationalists. Didactic ideas of Serbian educationalists.

Learning Outcomes: Student – Is familiar with and understands the development of Serbian pedagogical thought. – Knows how to individually interpret the works of Serbian pedagogists. – Interconnects pedagogical theory in the past and modern pedagogical concepts.
