Admission Requirements: An entrance condition for enrollment in a Bachelor’s study program is to have graduated full high school, approved entrance examination scores, and acceptance to study program. Rules for entrance examinations and admission are set in connection with the Faculty of Philosophy Statute.
Transfer Regulations: Rules for transferring are set in connection with the Faculty of Philosophy Statute. It is mandatory for a student to have the sufficient number of ECTS credits within the adequate study group allowing a student to transfer or take the differential exam.

Process of Studying: A Bachelor’s study program in Classical Studies is designed to acquire students with knowledge of classical languages in order to utilize that knowledge in understanding and translating Latin or Ancient Greek texts, in recognizing essential societal characteristics of ancient civilizations and culture, and to share acquired knowledge with future generations, primarily concerning the profession of a Latin Language or Ancient Greek Language professor in high schools or other educational institutions.
Educational and Professional Goals: The main goal of a Bachelor’s study program in Classicsis acquiring knowledge about ancient times, primarily concerning Latin Language and Ancient Greek Language , understanding all aspects of ancient man lifestyle and ancient culture, and recognizing traces od ancient times in modern and contemporary world.
Course Selection / ECTS: The credit system at the Faculty of Philosophy conforms to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). One academic year corresponds to 60 ECTS credits. The study courses correspond to 4 – 14 ECTS. The instructions are conducted through: lectures, consultations, and continuous oral and written testing. It is the credit accumulation system and corresponding grades of credits are allocated to subjects that form a part of the study program.

Admission Requirements: An entrance condition for enrollment in a follow-up Master’s study program is the completion of study in a Bachelor’s study program (240 ECTS credits). Rules for entrance examinations and admission are set in connection with the Faculty of Philosophy Statute. A student applying for a Master’s study program with a Bachelor’s degree from a different study group will have to take the difference exam if necessary.
Transfer Regulations: Rules for transferring are set in connection with the Faculty of Philosophy Statute. It is mandatory for a student to have the sufficient number of ECTS credits within the adequate study group allowing a student to transfer or take the differential exam.

Process of Studying: A Master’s study program in Classical Studies is designed to, during the specialization process, acquire students with knowledge of classical languages in order of utilizing acquired knowledge in recognizing related scientific issues, understanding scientific literature, approaching the literature critically, and undoubtedly presenting their achievements through principles and working ethics within scientific research work.
Educational and Professional Goals: The main goal of a Master’s study program in Classics is to orient and qualify graduate students for practicing one out of many areas of Classical Philology, such as: Linguistics, Literature, or studying broader aspects of ancient civilization.
Course Selection / ECTS: The credit system at the Faculty of Philosophy conforms to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). One academic year corresponds to 60 ECTS credits. Each study course, either elective or compulsory, corresponds to 6 ECTS credits. The research study work in the second semester corresponds to 10 ECTS credits. It is the credit accumulation system and corresponding grades of credits are allocated to subjects that form a part of the study program.

Qualification Awarded: Doctor of Classics (Ph.D.)
Admission Requirements: An entrance conditions for enrollment in a follow-up Doctoral study program are the completion of study in a Master’s study program (300 ECTS credits), the average grade of 8.00 during Bachelor and Master’s study programs, or at least five published research studies in magazines of national and international recognition. The knowledge of at least one foreign language is mandatory as well. Rules for entrance examinations and admission are set in connection with the Faculty of Philosophy Statute. A student applying for a Doctoral study program with a Master’s degree from a different study group will have to take the differential exam if necessary.

Educational and Professional Goals:

The main goal of a Doctoral study program in Classical Studies is to produce experts that are specialized in particular disciplines of the study, creative in approaching and analyzing selected doctoral dissertation topics, well informed and educated on the latest trends and tendencies within Classical studies, and capable of independently providing towards the development of Classical Studies.

Upon the graduation from a Doctoral study program in Classical Studies, a graduate student has specialized in one of the particular areas of Classics, and in accordance with this, a graduate student with a Doctoral degree in Classics is qualified for conducting scientific research study work, primarily at the universities and within institutions of higher education, within research institutes, and other educational institutions involved in research work.

Concerning the experience and meticulous knowledge of the profession, a graduate student with a Doctoral degree in Classical Studies is competent to translate and commentate, and publicly present ancient texts. A Doctor of Classics, as a Professor of Classical Languages, is also expected to share the acquired knowledge and research experience with younger and future generations. Finally, the diverse nature of this discipline allows involvement with and contribution to interdisciplinary projects, and participation in working within educational institutions with reference to languages and culture of Ancient Times and Middle Century, such as: museums, archives, libraries, publishing centers, etc.

Each elective and compulsory study courses correspond to 10 ECTS credits, and the thesis topic selection corresponds to 15 ECTS credits each. The research study work corresponds to 45 ECTS credits.
