Pre-requisites: Students are required to regularly attend class and fulfill all academic obligations.

Course objectives: Introducing students to ideas from the 20th century that were most influential in the history of Yugoslavia - nationalism, yugoslavian identity, democracy, communism and fascism.

Course description: Theoretical component will consist of lectures on the origins and roots of nationalism, yugoslavian identity, democracy, communism and fascism, forms and consequences of these ideologies, specific characteristics of certain ideologies that were exclusive to the territories of Yugoslavia, leaders and followers, longevity, crises, ideology disappearance, renewal and holistic influence/value for the history of Yugoslavian people in the twentieth century. The objective for the practical component will be to teach students to critically analyze and interpret historical texts and literature, think critically and present gained knowledge in written and oral form.

Learning Outcomes: During the course students gain critical knowledge from relevant sources and literature, about ideas and ideology and their meaning on a national and political level with the Yugoslavian people, by addressing issues from a critical perspective.
