Course objectives: Introduction to the major events during the 20th century, by topic: World War I, inter-war period, World War II, the "Cold War" period. The course will also address the political history of "idea".

Course description: This course is devoted to examining some of the most important processes and phenomena during the 20th century. Lectures are divided by chronology and theme:World War I, inter-war period and non-european history, World War II, the "Cold War" period. Along with determining causes, consequences and the course of the two world wars, as well as their being pivotal 20th century events, a focus will be put on a broader set of questions from European political history and some non-european, world history including influences and creation of various political and ideological movements. Economic issues will be examined(trends,crises and hardships and overcoming them, impact of war and ideological models on the economy).

Learning Outcomes: Students will be able to factually, conceptually and problematically understand, analyze and formulate scientific problems, issues and phenomena in contemporary social history
