Pre-requisites: Prerequisites for attending graduate (master’s degree) programme are prescribed by the Statute of the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade.

Course objectives: Objective of the course is to enable students to acquire additional knowledge in specialised courses about the development and characteristics of the Medieval Art, as well as to prepare them for more advanced study programme.

Course description: In the course, students will study various forms of artistic creation from the Early Christian era to the Late Middle Ages. Special attention will be paid to the conceptual and spiritual foundations of visual art creation. The content of individual courses shall be determined in consultation of the mentor with registered candidates, and it may refer to the Early Christian, Byzantine and Coptic Art, as well as the Medieval Art in the countries of Eastern and Western Europe, Georgia and Armenia.

Learning Outcomes: Having attended lectures and having fulfilled all obligations with regard to examination, the student has learned more about the different forms of artistic creation in the Middle Ages and is qualified to use the sources and scientific literature in the study of the Medieval Art.
