Pre-requisites: Previous (elementary and high school) EFL (English as a Foreign Language)studies of at least 8 years.

Course objectives: The course focuses on introducing and reinforcing various EAP (English for Academic Purposes) and ESP (English for Specific Purposes)grammatical structures and vocabulary. It also focuses on developing reading and comprehension skills and competences in a variety of subject-specific texts.

Course description: The course content is determined by its objectives and is closely linked to the Faculty of Philosophy specific fields of study. Specific field-related materials used both in class and as homework assignments aim at enhancing students' EAP/ESP language skills as well as developing their comprehension skills.

Learning Outcomes: Upon the completion of the course, the students will have acquired enough knowledge of grammar and vocabulary pertaining to their respective fields of study so as to be able to read, understand and summarize the content of specific field-related materials. Their overall degree of English language competence should match the B1+ to B2 CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)level.
