Admission Requirements: An entrance condition for enrollment in a Bachelor’s study program is to have graduated full high school, approved entrance examination scores, and acceptance to study program. Rules for entrance examinations and admission are set in connection with the Faculty of Philosophy Statute.
Transfer Regulations: Rules for transferring are set in connection with the Faculty of Philosophy Statute. It is mandatory for a student to have the sufficient number of ECTS credits within the adequate study group allowing a student to transfer or take the differential exam.

Process of Studying:

After accomplishing a Bachelor’s study program in Archaeology, a student will be proficient in performing following activities:

  • Will acquire general knowledge about material culture of human societies in past, with particular focus on Central Balkan territory
  • Will obtain practical knowledge and skills necessary for processing archaeological materials and documentation
  • Will acquire knowledge and expertise essential in creating and accomplishing research study works, and in continuing education
  • Will be equipped with ability to apply acquired knowledge and skills in different professional environments, such as: working in the museums, educational, caring and cultural institutions.
Educational and Professional Goals:

The main goals of a Bachelor’s study program in Archaeology are as following:

  • Offering a great chronological (from Early Prehistory to Middle Age) and geographical (Balkan, Europe, Mediterranean, Egypt, Near East) insight in archaeological research, as well at the fundamentals of particularly specialized archaeological disciplines, such as: Environmental Archaeology, Archaeozoologia, Physical Anthropology, etc.
  • Presenting exhaustive knowledge in particular areas of Archaeology
  • Proposing possibilities of multi and interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Assuring knowledge and skills necessary for continuing and perfecting education, and performing and satisfying professional responsibilities.
Course Selection / ECTS: The credit system at the Faculty of Philosophy conforms to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). One academic year corresponds to 60 ECTS credits. The study courses correspond to 3 – 11 ECTS. The instructions are conducted through: lectures, seminars, mandatory laboratory work, and independent study work. It is the credit accumulation system and corresponding grades of credits are allocated to subjects that form a part of the study program.

Admission Requirements: An entrance condition for enrollment in a follow-up Master’s study program is the completion of study in a Bachelor’s study program (240 ECTS credits). Rules for entrance examinations and admission are set in connection with the Faculty of Philosophy Statute. A student applying for a Master’s study program with a Bachelor’s degree from a different study group will have to take the difference exam if necessary.
Transfer Regulations: Rules for transferring are set in connection with the Faculty of Philosophy Statute. It is mandatory for a student to have the sufficient number of ECTS credits within the adequate study group allowing a student to transfer or take the differential exam.

Process of Studying:

A Master’s study program in Archaeology offers the following:

  • Meticulous and systematic knowledge in particular archeological fields of study
  • Foundation for continuing education
  • Competence for critical analysis of cultural occurrences and courses of past times
  • Proficiency in perception and critical analysis of cultural occurrences and courses of contemporary times
  • Expertise in interdisciplinary involving various humanistic and Archeology related disciplines
  • Application of acquired knowledge in diverse professional environments, such as: working in museums, and caring, educational and cultural institutions.
Educational and Professional Goals:

A Master’s study program in Archaeology is oriented towards developing general and specific knowledge and skills necessary for assisting and conducting research study works. The main goals of the Master’s study program in Archaeology are the following:

  • Acquiring thorough knowledge of fundamental theoretical and methodological findings in Archaeology and other related disciplines
  • Acquiring specific knowledge and skills in specialized archaeological disciplines
  • Developing professional approach to research work
  • Applying acquired knowledge and skills in practice
  • Developing creative, professional and academic abilities
  • Preparing for scientific research study works, professional perfecting, and continuing education.
Course Selection / ECTS: The credit system at the Faculty of Philosophy conforms to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). One academic year corresponds to 60 ECTS credits. Each study course, either elective or compulsory, corresponds to 6 ECTS credits. The research study work in the second semester corresponds to 10 ECTS credits. It is the credit accumulation system and corresponding grades of credits are allocated to subjects that form a part of the study program.

Number of ECTS credits allocated: 180 ECTS credits
Qualification Awarded: Doctor of Archaeology (Ph.D.)
Admission Requirements: An entrance conditions for enrollment in a follow-up Doctoral study program are the completion of study in a Master’s study program (300 ECTS credits), the average grade of 8.00 during Bachelor and Master’s study programs, or at least five published research studies in magazines of national and international recognition. The knowledge of at least one foreign language is mandatory as well. Rules for entrance examinations and admission are set in connection with the Faculty of Philosophy Statute. A student applying for a Doctoral study program with a Master’s degree from a different study group will have to take the differential exam if necessary.
Transfer Regulations: Rules for transferring are set in connection with the Faculty of Philosophy Statute. It is mandatory for a student to have the sufficient number of ECTS credits within the adequate study group allowing a student to transfer or take the differential exam.
Access to Further Studies: The doctoral degree is the highest level of Serbian education system.

Educational and Professional Goals:

A Doctoral study program in Archaeology has been designed based on social, professional and practical needs of a society. Specifically pertaining to contemporary research tendencies in Archaeology, the intentions of the Doctoral study program are as following:

  • Developing creative abilities and analytical techniques necessary for researching past times
  • Developing academic and professional expertise and proficiency
  • Developing consciousness about continuous professional expansion and improvement as well as intensifying and expanding scientific flexibility and research inquisitiveness
  • Escalating the assistance in conducting domestic and international scientific research projects
  • Emerging abilities for conducting scientific research projects
  • Employment of interdisciplinary methods in examining and analyzing past times

The Doctoral study program in Archaeology will acquire the graduate student with knowledge, proficiency, expertise and skills to perform the following:

  • To independently resolve practical and theoretical matters and issues in particular areas of Archaeology, and to accomplish developmental and scientific research work
  • To assist in conducting international scientific research projects
  • To develop innovative and original archaeological research methods
  • To think critically, and to execute creatively and independently
  • To respect the principles of working ethics
  • To present scientific research projects’ results in public, presenting them at the conventions and public lectures, and publishing them in scientific periodicals and magazines
  • To increase and intensify consciousness about the significance of archaeological scientific research projects and national heritage protection programs
  • To acquire exhaustive knowledge in particular areas of archaeological research
  • To attain meticulous expertise in comprehending and utilizing theoretical and methodological approaches in archaeological research
  • To promote abilities of multi and interdisciplinary approaches in solving scientific research issues and matters
  • To support creative engagement in following modern trends and tendencies in Archaeology
  • To independently create, plan and conduct complex scientific research projects in Archaeology.
Course Selection / ECTS: The credit system at the Faculty of Philosophy conforms to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). One academic year corresponds to 60 ECTS credits. Each elective and compulsory study course corresponds to 10 ECTS credits, and the thesis and project topic selections correspond to 15 ECTS credits each. The research study work corresponds to 45 ECTS credits. It is the credit accumulation system and corresponding grades of credits are allocated to subjects that form a part of the study program.
