Pre-requisites: The prerequisites are first two semesters of Bachelor’s degree in History of Art.

Course objectives: The goal of the course is to acquire students with an extended knowledge about the development and characteristics of Serbian medieval art since its beginnings in the second half of the IX century to the establishment of autocephalous Serbian Church in 1219.

Course description: The content of the course is a general review of medieval Serbian art since its beginnings in the second half of the IX century to the establishment of autocephalous Serbian Church in 1219. The practical segment of the course is based on introducing individual pieces via museum practice, Gallery of Frescoes, field on-site work, and electronic data base.

Learning Outcomes: After attending the course and fulfilling all the course obligations, the students will be capable to recognize and identify, understand and interpret the pieces of medieval Serbian art created on period from IX century to 1219.
