Course objectives: Acquisition of basic knowledge and skills for educational work in improving the culture of communication and the use of media in adult education.

Course description: Theoretical course: Communication, mass communication and adult education. Semiotic-linguistic relevance of adult communication (sign, meaning, codes, information, message, knowledge). Nonverbal communication and presentative codes. Language and the culture of speaking. Language and the culture of writing. Written language development and literacy spreading. Skills of verbal and nonverbal communication of adults. Scientific-technological development and mass communication. Media and conceptions of media education. Didactical-methodological particularities of the use of media in adult education. Media-educational animation. Audience, mass audience, learning audience. Adult educational function of journalists. Ambivalent character of the use of media. Practical course: Distance education and electronic education. Electronic classrooms. Media and computer literacy. Internet and virtual adult education. Virtual universities, electronic catalogues, databases, etc. Development of online education. Theoretical foundations of electronic learning. Software (LMS) particularity in adult education. Methodological work demands in online environment. Forms of knowledge transmission and interaction in electronically supported courses. Online educational skills.

Learning Outcomes: Student: - Knows and has the skills to apply different communication modalities (oral, written, electronic) and media in adult education; - Is able to recognize, select and recommend the appropriate communication strategies and skills in concrete educational situation; to plan and organize distant learning process
